The aim of this blog (and every other venture I passionately undertake) is to use my talents and skills as a platform to make a positive difference, while having tough conversations about sensitive issues. To openly discuss and address such things as mind/being wellness, mental health, gender constructs and positive self identity; to educate others, and hopefully, in so doing, inspire change through action, especially with de-stigmatising mental health challenges.
It’s definitely not easy to put myself out there as a Blogtivist and mental health advocate, especially in a country like Jamaica where the stigma is so deep-rooted, but someone has to do it. In everything that I do, I want to help people feel more ‘upfull’— liberated, confident in themselves; celebrate who they are and embrace their beauty and uniqueness so they can live empowered, purpose-full and inspired.
It is important for me to share my journey and any helpful resources I have as I know personally how it feels to be on the other side of ‘upfulness’, I also know it can be changed with effort, love, cultivating the right habits and a supportive community.
In the immediate (and remote) future, I’ll be doing some workshops and designing/selling a few products to mobilise this initiative, so please watch this space for more updates.
A colossal thank you to everyone who has supported me on my journey and who help to spread the word that #mentalhealthmatters.
I appreciate each and every one of you infinitely.
Much love and light!
