My aim with this blog (and every other venture I passionately undertake) is to use my talents and skills as a platform to make a positive difference, while having tough conversations about sensitive issues often kept secret. To openly discuss and address such things as #mentalhealthmatters and positive self identity; to educate others, and hopefully, in so doing, I can inspire change, especially regarding the de-stigmatising of mental illnesses.
It’s definitely not easy to put myself out there as a mental health advocate, especially in a country like Jamaica where the stigma is so deep-rooted, but in everything that I do, I want to help people feel more ‘upful’— liberated, confident in themselves; to celebrate who they are and embrace their beauty and uniqueness so they can live empowered, purpose-full and inspired.
I do this because I know personally how it feels to be on the other side of that and I know that it can be changed with effort, love, practicing the right habits and a supportive community.
In the immediate (and remote) future, I’ll be doing some workshops and designing/selling a few products to mobilise this initiative, so please watch this space for more updates.
I’d also like to say a colossal thank you to everyone who has supported me on my journey and who help to spread the word that #mentalhealthmatters.
I appreciate each and every one of you infinitely.
Much love and light!
